Today, Oct. 31, marks the 44th birthday of Queens rapper Pharoahe Monch! The legendary underground rap star got his start in 1991 with the seminal rap duo Organized Konfusion along with his partner Prince Po. After releasing three albums with the group, Monch broke out on his own and released his debut solo album, Internal Affairs, in October 1999. He is perhaps best known for the song, "Simon Says," which famously samples theme music from the Japanese monster movie, Godzilla. Over the years, Monch has become known for his dense, polysyllabic lyricism and intricate rhyme schemes while becoming one of the most recognized underground stars in hip-hop.

Happy Birthday, Pharoahe Monch!
