Today marks the 41st birthday of one of hip-hop’s greatest emcees, Eminem. Debuting in 1999 with his major label release, The Slim Shady LP, Eminem has gone on to have one of the most illustrious careers in hip-hop, ever. The Detroit rapper has released eight (six solo, two with his rap group, D12) platinum albums with eight releases debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. In 2003, he won an Oscar for Best Song for his track, “Lose Yourself,” from the critically-acclaimed film 8 Mile, a movie he starred in to rave reviews. Next month, he is set to release his latest solo, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the sequel to his 2000 mega-classic, The Marshall Mathers LP. The album is highly anticipated and is something that all of music is eager to listen to. Over the years, Eminem is widely recognized as one of hip-hop’s greatest lyricists and one of the best rappers ever to do it.
