After serving three months in prison after a conviction for tax fraud, it was announced that Ms. Lauryn Hill is finally returning home today after serving time at a minimum security federal facility in Danbury, Connecticut. Hill found herself in prison for failing to pay $2.3 million in taxes over five years after being pleading guilty to tax evasion charges on June 29, 2012.
Lauryn is not the only rapper that has run into major problems with the Internal Revenue Service in recent years. An unfortunate trend in hip-hop has found that many rappers are failing to pay their taxes and it’s costing them in both their bank accounts and in many cases, their freedom.
