With the advancement of technology, the use of vinyl records, even by the DJ, has seen a sharp decline. Universal Music is taking it back to the essence, recently announcing they will be re-mastering and re-releasing some of hip-hop's most coveted LPs, in vinyl form, as a part of their Respect The Classics campaign. The first release will be DMX's double platinum debut It's Dark and Hell Is Hot which will be re-issued on October 22. Other albums hitting the shelves again will include, 50 Cent's diamond opus Get Rich or Die Tryin,' Eminem's The Shady LP, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter, Slick Rick's The Great Adventures of Slick Rick and Puclic Enemy's It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back. The label aims to “spotlight iconic, genre-defining albums” by reopening catalogs from Def Jam, Interscope, Priority and Virgin Records.
