Rock The Bells Issues Statement Regarding Cancellation Of D.C., NYC Shows

Rock The Bells just released a statement regarding the cancellation of the final two weekends of its tour in Washington, D.C. and New York City. XXL reported earlier today that the dates would not be fulfilled, with a source indicating that the reasoning was due to poor ticket sales, and that parent company Guerilla Union would take a $3 million hit with the cancelled dates. According to the statement from Guerilla Union founder/owner Chang Weisberg, the financial loss from the cancelled shows was less than the potential blow the company would have been forced to absorb had the shows gone ahead as scheduled.

“First and foremost, it is with great sadness and disappointment that we must cancel the Washington, DC and New York City Rock the Bells dates due to lack of ticket sales,” Weisberg said in the statement. “I, along with our staff, the artists, and all of the sponsors, media partners, local promoters, and radio stations involved are thankful for our supporters and the fans that planned on attending.

“It’s extremely unfortunate that we can’t complete the last half of the 10th Anniversary Rock the Bells tour,” he continued. “We did everything in our power to save the show. Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating. This festival has been ten years in the making. I am truly sorry we could not produce the show for all the fans who did buy their ticket.”
