On Sunday, Meek Mill released his highly anticipated mixtape Dreamchasers 3. Just days after previewing over 40 tracks in a private listening session at New York’s Roc The Mic Studios, Meek slimmed down his selections and packed out a 60-minute project. The MMG rhymer went all out for his third installment, gathering rappers who have swept the streets with their tapes in the past. These include notable names such as Rick Ross, Fabolous, French Montana, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj and many more.
“I always had a mixtape, so why stop now?” Meek says. “A lot of people go wrong, they change they format and try to do something brand new when they always doing mixtapes. I’m just feeding my core fans.”
DC3 delivers on all expectations from a Meek Mill tape—big beats and sharpened rhymes that prove his progression speaks louder than he does. There are levels to this mixtape game, and Meek has the formula to keep his name hot in hip-hop. In addition, Meek continues his streak of co-signing newer talent, paying homage to Lil Snupe in an unreleased freestyle and making strong records with the likes of Travi$ Scott and Tory Lanez. Meek knows exactly what his fans want.
At the same time, Meek has his own individual tastes of what he deems dope right now. XXL spoke with the Philly MC about his favorite tracks and why they should be on your playlist. Of course, make sure DC3 is on it, too. –Eric Diep (@E_Diep)
