Lil Boosie, the Baton Rogue rapper who is currently incarcerated on drug charges, may be seeing the light of day soon.

Journalist Jeff Weiss, who covered Boosie’s trial for Rolling Stone, spoke to the rapper’s attorneys who shared with him information regarding his release and new music. According to Weiss’s tweets, the judge agreed to return Boosie’s hard drive containing some unreleased tracks. He also says attorneys believe he could be released in the next few months.

In July, XXL spoke with Boosie’s Trill Entertainment labelmate and longtime friend Webbie who is patiently waiting for his return. “Man, I need him. I need him. We need each other. That’s what we need. I know that when people say, ‘Man, they say he might get life. They say he might get the death [penalty.]’ I prayed for him. I talked to God, we got it right, bruh. When you come out, it ain’t about this. It’s about when you come out—be ready man.”

Boosie is still remaining a household name in hip-hop. The third installment of MMG’s Self Made series finds Ross featuring him on “Lay It Down.”
