"My big brother was B.I.G.'s brother" - Kanye West, "Big Brother"

Earlier today, Kanye West announced that he was hitting the road with a new blockbuster tour featuring Kendrick Lamar across North America. About an hour later, Kanye's big brother, Jay Z, stole a little bit of his young brother's shine with the announcement that he was extending the tour dates of his Magna Carter World Tour into North America.

This is not the first time that both Rocafella alumni have tried to shine block one another. Despite their frequent collaborations and longstanding friendship, both members of The Throne have been engaged in a game of one-upmanship for years now. XXL has compiled a timeline of the important events in which the duo has attempted to out-do one another.

The Timeline

June 25, 1996 - Jay Z releases Reasonable Doubt eight years before Kanye releases College Dropout. A clear potshot at a teenaged Kanye's inability to have a successful rap career until almost a decade later.

1997 - 2003 - Jay Z releases 10 more albums before  Kanye. Hov is clearly rubbing it in.

November 14, 2003 - Jay retires just to prove his point to Kanye.

February 10, 2004 - Kanye finally releases his debut album, The College Dropout. On the song, "Last Call," Kanye documents Jay Z dismissive behavior towards his burgeoning rap career. Meanwhile during the introduction, an annoyed Jay Z tells Kanye "Yo, fuck you, Kanye first and foremost for making me do this shit."

July 2005 - Jay Z jumps on the remix of Kanye's "Diamonds Of Sierra Leone" and ruins Kanye's Christmas. Years later, Kanye would take to time complain about about it on "Big Brother."

November 21, 2005 - Kanye tells Jay Z that he is doing a song with Coldplay and soon after, Jay Z releases "Beach Chair" his song produced by Chris Martin Of Coldplay.

September 11, 2007 - On his new album, Graduation, Kanye releases "Big Brother" where he painfully details his relationship with Jay Z, again. Chris Martin is caught who appears on the song is caught in the middle.

January 7, 2012 -  Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy, is born beating Kanye to fatherhood by a year.

July 1, 2012 - While accepting award for Best Group at the BET Awards, Kanye took a jab at Hov's political correctness when he said "I'm bad at losing. I'm bad at winning. I'm always saying the wrong thing and I wish Jay-Z was here to say something politically correct for me." Moments later, Jay surprises Kanye on stage...

February 24, 2013 - Kanye tells a London crowd during a performance that he isn't fucking with "Suit & Tie," Jay Z's new collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Jealously?

June 15, 2013 - Kanye becomes a father himself after his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, gives birth to North West.

June 16, 2013 - Perhaps in retaliation for Kanye becoming a father to a daughter, Jay Z announces that his new album, Magna Carta...Holy Grail, will be coming out on July 4. This is only a few shorts weeks after Kanye releases his first new album, Yeezus, in three years.

September 6, 2013 - Kanye announces a new tour. Within the hour, Jay Z announces his tour, too.
