After the events of his three-day long Twitter rant two weeks ago, many people had wondered about the state of Gucci Mane's mental health in the wake of his perceived meltdown. Fans, journalists and his peers wondered what was wrong with Gucci and pondered if the man needed serious help in the wake of his profane rant.

On Sunday (September 22), the public got some answers as Gucci's previously deleted Twitter unexpectedly re-activated with Guwop offering an apology to those he insulted during his rant. Gucci blamed his problems on an addiction to prescription cough syrup and vowed that he would enter rehab to get help with his problem.

While XXL applauds Gucci for his desire to get his life clean, he is not the only hip-hop artist that has struggled with drugs and addiction for the years. Here is a list of 7 hip-hop artists that have admitted going to rehab over the years.

Eminem

Eminem's struggles with drug addiction has been well-documented over the his life. In 2002, Em became addicted to Ambien and sleeping medication while working 16-hours days during the shoot of his film, 8 Mile. According to a feature in Rolling Stone, Eminem attended rehab in 2005 but failed out and is addiction to prescriptions drugs like Xanax, Valium and Vicodin grew worse in the wake of the death of his best friend, rapper Proof.

In December 2007, Eminem overdosed on methadone after taking the rough equivalent of four bags of heroin, according to doctors. Aftewards, Eminem got sober in April 2008 and started attending drug counseling meetings at churches around Detroit. Em would later document his struggles with addiction on his latest two albums, Relapse and Recovery.

DMX

Despite being one of the most successful rappers of the 1990s, DMX's unfortunate legacy might be his troubles with drug use and the law. DMX's struggles with addiction have lead him to go in and out of drug rehab facilities over the years.

Most recently, a judge denied DMX's participation in VH1's Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2010 after DMX violated the terms of his probation on drug charges in 2010.

Lil Scrappy

In May 2013, Lil Scrappy reportedly checked himself into drug rehab for an addiction to marijuana. Scrappy had failed a court-mandated drug test and checked himself into a rehabilitation facility, admitting that he wanted to get himself clean after years of abuse.

A month later, Scrap reportedly checked himself out of the facility after remaining clean and sober  for the duration of his stay.

Scott Storch

After reportedly blowing his fortune over $30 million dollars, Scott Storch checked himself into a rehab facility for cocaine addiction in April 2009. His addiction led to him spending his money foolishly and according to him, he burned through his fortune in less than three years.

Speaking with MTV in 2009, Storch said on his extravagant cocaine-fueled lifestyle,  "The cost of the drug didn't effect my life," Storch weighed in. "It was the poor decisions I made, that were so poor financially, that caused me to go into this situation where I was forced to change my lifestyle ... forced to change a lot of things."

Bushwick Bill

Former Geto Boys rapper, Bushwick Bill, found himself in a rehab facility after an arrest for marijuana possession in early 2010 almost led him to facing deportation charges. The Jamaican-born rapper found himself in hot water with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency after police ran a background check and discovered that he was still living on a green card and had three previous convictions on his records.

Bushwick was able to avoid deportation after his lawyer was able to plead down the charges on the contingent that the diminutive rapper attend a drug rehabilitation program.

Coolio

In June 2007, Coolio was sentenced to 18 months in a drug diversion education and treatment program, following his arrest on drug charges. Coolio plead guilty to felony cocaine possession after authorities discovered the drug and various paraphernalia in his luggage as he tried to pass security in Los Angeles International Airport on March 6 of that year.

Ol' Dirty Bastard

After various drug charges and run-ins with the law, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard found himself being sentenced to one-year in a drug rehabilitation facility in November 1999. A few months later in October 200o, Ol' Dirty Bastard fled the facility and a judge issued a no-bail warrant for his capture. After the police soon apprehended him, Dirty was sentenced to two-years in prison for his escape from rehab.

Unfortunately for Dirty, his problems with drugs continued for the rest of his life as he passed away on November 13, 2004. A toxicology report showed that he had a lethal dose of  of cocaine and the prescription drug tramadol were found in his system.
