In the annals of pop culture, NBC's Saturday Night Live has enjoyed one of the longest and most celebrated runs on network television in history. The long-running comedy sketch show started in 1975 roughly two years after hip-hop started peculating in the New York City underground across the five boroughs. Over the almost 40 years of the show, Saturday Night Live has taken an opportunity to cast an eye at hip-hop culture in the form of numerous musical performances, as well as, attempted to skewer many figures and moments in hip-hop history.

From Chris Rock appearing as Luther Campbell to the numerous parodies performed by the show's Lonely Island crew, hip-hop has found it's way into more than it's fair share of sketches. XXL has compiled 15 of the show's more memorable sketches for you to watch and view today.

Princess & The Homeboy

In a bizarre parody of rapper-centric '90s sitcoms, Tim Meadows plays G-Dog, a gangster rapper, who moves in with a wealthy family in Beverly Hills.

I'm Chillin'

"I'm Chillin" was a spoof of cable access rap television shows popular in New York City during the 1990s. Chris Rock played the host of the show who introduced his sidekick played by Chris Farley in a series of nonsensical rhymes. The reoccurring sketch was notable for its "Mother Joke Of The Day" that was sent in by fictional project dwellers across the country.

In one of the earliest and most popular SNL Digital Shorts to go viral, Chris Parnell and Andy Samberg rap about cupcakes, Red Vines, Mr. Pibb and attending a screening of The Chronicles Of Narnia.

Jay Z Meets Robert Goulet

Will Ferrell's impersonation of Robert Goulet remains one of my personal favorites of the show. In this sketch, Goulet teams up with The R.O.C. to release a compilation album of Goulet's covers of classic Jay Z tracks. Highlight include a stoned-out of his mind, Hov offering a blunt to a mountain goat.

In 2008, Vice President candidate, Sarah Palin, appeared on the show to awkwardly wave her hands during a rap performed by Amy Poehler during the show's "Weekend Update" segment.

Natalie Portman offers a glimpse in her life that surprisingly involves dog-killing, cheating on tests and copious amounts of drug use.

Kanye West Is Upset That He Didn't Win A Kid's Choice Award

Even before his infamous 2009 bum rushing of Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards, Kanye West had already gained a reputation for being a sore loser at various award shows. Kanye was good enough sport to let Saturday Night Live skewer that reputation by acting in a sketch where he gets upset about losing a Kid's Choice Award and the best pumpkin at a state fair.

Uncle Luke On "The Sinatra Group"

In one of the show's most famous and classic sketches, Chris Rock plays 2 Live Crew's Luther Campbell as he appears on "The Sinatra Group," a fictional talk show hosted by Frank Sinatra discussing various issues in the entertainment industry.

Kickspit Underground Rock Festival

The annual commercial for the Insane Clown Posse's Gathering Of The Juggalos music festival has become one of the most popular and anticipated viral videos on the internet. In one of the grandest song parodies since Weird Al Yankovich's "Amish Paradise," Saturday Night Live's Lonely Island crew skewer the grandiosity of rap's obsession with nautical-themed videos.

In the first of a series of sketches, Ludacris brings in a 8-Ball jacketed R&B singer, Blizzard Man, played by Andy Samberg to lay the hook to his latest club banger.

Seth Rogen appears in this Lonely Island video covering Slim Thug's "Like A Boss" in a deliriously literal manner.
