What To Expect From Kanye West And Bret Easton Ellis’ Movie
In anticipation of the release of his sixth studio album Yeezus, Kanye West teamed up with famed screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis (who penned American Psycho and The Rules Of Attraction) for a parody trailer, which took a lot of cues from American Psycho. In the trailer, which you can watch above, Scott Disick plays Christian Bale's character in Psycho, and goes on a ridiculous (read: contrived) rant about Kanye's new album before axing his friend to death. All told, it's basically a shot-for-shot remake of the original scene, but it's still fun to see it updated with a soundtrack from Yeezy.
Weeks after the album dropped, Billboard caught up with Ellis to discuss how the collaboration came together, and he simply said, "I just got a text one day ... it said, 'It's Kanye, do you have time to rap?' And then suddenly my phone rang and someone said, 'Kanye got your number and he wants you to write this promo for Yeezus." Ellis also went on to say that he and Kanye are working on a full-length script together, admitting, "Kanye and I have been meeting about writing a script for him, so that's a project that's kind of in the works."
Since we're excited about whatever it is Kanye and Bret come up with, we decided to pull together a series of clips from both auteurs, and we're guessing their script and film will land somewhere in between the extremes of these videos.
