This summer has provided music fans with no shortage of gems, from new albums from Jay Z, Kanye and Wale to blazing singles from 2 Chainz, Drake and Big Sean. But while average music listeners have been lucky enough to get their summer soundtrack, burgeoning basketball players have been fortunate enough to add new music to their pre-game playlists. With their NBA contracts finalized and the Summer League in full swing, the new crop of NBA rookies definitely has the right tunes to turn up to.

While at the 2013 Panini NBA Rookie Photoshoot last week, XXL caught up with some of the recent top draft picks and asked them what they've been rocking with during practice and in the weight room. The expected bangers from Meek Mill and Jay made the cut, but there were also some surprising picks from the guys. Find out which of the ballers—from Ben McLemore to Shabbazz Muhammad—jam to the likes of Lil Durk and Miguel.—Written and compiled by Abrea Armstrong (@abreaknowsbest)

Jay Z - “Tom Ford”

“[Magna Carta] is definitely nice. There’s a couple of songs on there that are short and you’re like, 'Man, if it were a little bit longer, it would be better.' But that’s just how Jay Z is. That’s why I like him. His music just makes me so excited.”

Lil Durk - "Dis Ain't What U Want"
