Kendrick Lamar Grabs 14 Nominations For BET Hip-Hop Awards

kendrick lamar

You might say that Kendrick Lamar has the BET Hip-Hop Awards under… “Control.” Bad jokes aside, King Kendrick netted 14 nominations for the awards which will be taped at Atlanta’s Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center before premiering on BET on October 15. Lamar’s acclaimed album good kid, m.A.A.d city helped him grab nominations for Lyricist Of The Year, MVP Of The Year, Album Of The Year and more.

But he wasn’t the only performer to rack up multiple nods. Drake picked up 13 nominations, while J. Cole snatched up 10. Cole and Lamar are both nominated for Album Of The Year along with Jay-Z’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail, Nas’s Life Is Good and Wale’s The Gifted. Kanye West’s Yeezus was shut out of the Album category, but Yeezy did pick up 4 nominations in other categories including Live Performer Of The Year.

Snoop Lion will serve as the host of the event. You can get a little taste of his approach to hosting in a brief video posted below. Then check out the full list of nominees which are also below (via Rap-Up).
