US Weekly is reporting that Kanye West allegedly turned down a spot as a judge on popular singing program, American Idol. According to US's sources, Kanye turned down the invitation because he was afraid that it would hurt his street cred by joining the cast for the program's 13th season on Fox.

"He didn't want to go that mainstream," the source told US Weekly. "He didn't want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down."

Kanye West wasn't the only hip-hop start to be considered for the program as US's sources revealed that Diddy, will.i.am and noted songwriter, Rodney Jerkins also met with producers to discuss. Reportedly, the program's producers have chosen veteran hip-hop producer, Dr. Luke, for the final spot on the judge's panel but no word on the final decision has been made, yet.
