Drake on his own can carry a song—hate it or love it, but it’s true. The Canadian singer-slash-rapper-slash-actor certainly knows his way around a hit. A guest verse from Drake either adds a certain something to a track or ends up taking over the song altogether. It’s a gift and a curse in a wayre: a gift for Drake, but a curse for anyone who invites him into the fold.

As Drizzy readies the release of his third studio album Nothing Was The Same, we take a trip back to Drake’s role as a guest. Whether part of his YMCMB crew or another rap team, Drake shows up and delivers. Check out Drake’s best assists.

“Off That” – Jay Z Featuring Drake

Sure he’s only on the hook, but it was just enough Drizziness to get the point across. Plus, when Jay Z asks you on a track—it doesn’t matter if he’s asking you to just cough and sneeze—you show up.

“In The Morning (Remix)” – J. Cole Featuring Drake

Drake takes the opportunity to hop on his homie Jermaine Cole’s cut to woo the pants off a random woman who is “winter time cold.” He also mentions that even if his girl is at work he’ll wait in bed until she gets home. Mr. Mom?

“Mo Milly” – Birdman Featuring Bun B & Drake

Drake jumps onto a track with two veterans with the level of finesse of an expert. He opens his verse with “You’re now fucking with the most requested” so you know he means business.

“The Zone” – The Weeknd Featuring Drake

“If pole dancing’s an art, you know how many fuckin’ artists I know?” Drake provides some inspiration for those who strip to pay tuition and pays them a huge compliment. Going forward, call them “art majors.”

“Tony Montana (Remix)” – Future Featuring Drake

A year before the twerking craze really kicked off, Drake was having women twerk on this track. It’s important to note though that he claims in these bars that young girls are “lost” and older women (“that knew Biggie”) are better, so is it safe to say he has older women twerking?

“Versace (Remix)” – Migos Featuring Drake

Drake took a group like Migos and turned them into a household name with a simple couple of bars about a “throwback” designer clothing line. Count how many times Drake says “Versace” in the song. It’s probably more times than Migos’ combined verses.

“I Do (Remix)” – Young Jeezy Featuring Andre 3000, Drake & Jay Z

So how come Drake gets to make a mention about MC Hammer (“We just in the club getting MC Hammered”) and doesn’t catch any flack for it? Then again, he didn’t highlight Hammer’s bankruptcy so maybe that’s why.

“I’m On One” – DJ Khaled Featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne

Sure, DJ Khaled might just stand there on this track, but given the rest of the lineup, Drake still manages to own the cut. He even references that brief period where he looked like an out of work actor with long hair and a beard.

“Number 15” – Nickelus F Featuring Drake

While Nickelus F did his thing on his own track, he definitely shouldn’t have put Drake first. Drake comes in and beats on his chest for T-Dot, while puffin’ shisha. It’s hard to follow-up after that.

“Live For” – The Weeknd Featuring Drake

On The Weeknd’s Kiss Land cut, Drake jumps in and poses the question “How long do you think it’s gon’ take for y’all to fall? That’s a serious question because I’m seriously questioning all of y’all.” Drake is confident where he stands in the rap game and isn’t afraid to ask some questions…even on someone else’s track.

“Unthinkable (Remix)” – Alicia Keys Featuring Drake

Drake digs deep into his subconscious to deliver a vulnerable verse about the fate of his personal life in the face of fame. It was a little different from his typical approach and more about wondering if his ’30s will be spent alone. Deep stuff.

“Throw It In The Bag (Remix)” – Fabolous Featuring Drake

While Fabolous is talking about having absurd shopping habits, Drake is finding himself a cougar. Her son is 26, which means Drake is young enough to be her son. He seems to be a having a good time though.

“Deuces (Remix)” – Chris Brown Featuring Drake, T.I., Kanye West, Fabolous, Rick Ross & Andre 3000

Even on a track with a laundry list of heavy-hitting guest verses, Drake manages to shine. He details the destruction of a relationship from the moment he realizes it’s unraveling to ultimately having to “chuck the deuces.”

“Fuckin Problems” – A$AP Rocky Featuring Drake, 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar

There are a few takeaway lines from this song – Kendrick Lamar’s reference to his “manhood” being one of them. But Drake’s was another stating “You should print the lyrics out and have a fuckin’ read along.”

“Money To Blow” – Birdman Featuring Drake & Lil Wayne

Not only did Drake get to open a song starring his YMCMB forefathers, but he also lent his vocals for the hook. Let’s not forget his “champagne diet” that he doesn’t have to fund. Must be nice.

“4 My Town (Play Ball)” – Birdman Featuring Drake & Lil Wayne

Drake once again gets hook duties and opening bars, referring to himself as “Mr. Lyrical.” Is he saying he’s the most lyrical one on the song? Would he even be wrong though if he said that?

“Right Above It” – Lil Wayne Featuring Drake

Urban legend states that Drake took shots at J. Cole on this track by calling him “Hollywood Cole.” While it doesn’t seem likely since the two are friends, Drake still had no qualms about jumping on his boss’ track and using it as his own podium.

“Moment 4 Life” – Nicki Minaj Featuring Drake

Nicki Minaj chose to share her triumphant track with her Young Money male counterpart, and the decision was a good one. As much as Drake is great for crafting bars about lamenting, he’s extra good at celebrating. Even for just a moment.

“Stay Schemin” – Rick Ross Featuring Drake & French Montana

There have been a million conversations about how good Drake’s verse was on Rick Ross’ cut. Call this a million and one. Drake goes in about looks are deceiving when it comes to his career and the realest ones out there actually aren’t. Solid bars from Drizzy.

“No Lie” – 2 Chainz Featuring Drake

This was arguably 2 Chainz’s breakout single, and at least some credit has to go to Drake. Getting Drake on your song might not guarantee Platinum status (it did in this case though), but it would be no lie to say Gold is a possibility.

“Aston Martin Music” – Rick Ross Featuring Chrisette Michele & Drake

While Rick Ross provided another banger along the same theme as his “Maybach Music” trilogy, Drake comes through with some emotional bars for “Aston Martin Music.” He tells girls not to grow up too quickly and kiss their mothers, plus admits maybe he grew up too quickly himself.

“No New Friends” – DJ Khaled Featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne

DJ Khaled opted to name his track after Drake’s OVO motto and make it the central theme. Drake is adamant about his “no new friends” mantra. Words to live by.

“What’s My Name” – Rihanna Featuring Drake

The fact that these two had an actual romance makes this collaboration even sweeter. “Good weed, white wine. I come alive in the night time.” Don’t we all?

“Pop That” – French Montana Featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne

Drake lets his “Champagne Papi” out all over French Montana’s hit. He even flips a double entendre: “One of my closest dawgs got three kids and they all three/But we always been that type of crew that been good without a plan B.”

“Put It Down” – Bun B Featuring Drake

Out of all of the cosigns Drake has in the game, one from Bun B is arguably one of the strongest. He even let Drake call himself a young Pimp C on the track. Amazing.
