25 Artists DJ Khaled Should Work With
It seems as though DJ Khaled has worked with everybody. And we mean everybody. Check Khaled’s catalog, and you might even find your own name on a feature off one of his many compilations. He possesses the gift of being able to corral various rappers from different regions and genres, then get them all on one gigantic track. There are of course some usual suspects—from Rick Ross to Birdman, Bun B and Busta Rhymes—Khaled loves a good artistic repeat. However, there are some artists missing that we’d like to see Khaled work with. Yes, there are still some left. As DJ Khaled readies his upcoming album Suffering From Success, XXL has picked 25 artists that we’d like to see on a DJ Khaled track. - KI
Eminem
Khaled has mentioned in various interviews that having Eminem on a track would be a dream for him. We’re helping him put it out into the universe and saying we’d like to see this happen too. For no other reason than to find out what that would ever sound like. Are you reading this, Em?
Juicy J
While we’re all awaiting the final tracklist for Suffering From Success, this could already be in the works. Juicy J on a real Khaled track (not a slapped together remix) could possibly be the next strip club anthem.
Tyler, The Creator
Tyler’s dark gruffness mixed with Khaled’s yelling? Could be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare depending on who is listening to the track. If there’s a video involved, then the Odd Future kingpin needs to eat another roach on camera.
Trinidad Jame$
Another one that could possibly be in the bag, but Trinidad Jame$ and Khaled could strike a balance with TJ’s strange glam rock meets Hip-Hop style and Khaled’s “We The Best” steelo. It would be amusing to watch.
50 Cent
Yes, we know they don’t get along. Make peace already and get in the studio, guys.
A$AP Ferg
A$AP Rocky got his chance to rock with Khaled on Fat Joe’s “Yellow Tape.” Now it’s Ferg’s turn to work with Khaled. Ferg’s moving up the ranks in rap pretty quickly, so this could happen more sooner than later.
Talib Kweli
Mos Def landed on a DJ Khaled track, so where’s Kweli’s shot? Maybe Kweli isn’t interested, but we’re telling him he should be.
Wu-Tang Clan
After plugging DJ Khaled’s name into the Wu-Tang Name Generator, it turns out his Wu name is “Zexy Bandit.” You’re welcome, Khaled. Get your White Owls, get your meth, get your skins, don’t forget your 40, and we gonna do it like this.
Major Lazer
Diplo and Switch plus Khaled? This could go in so many directions. From dancehall to Favela Funk, to those other genres Diplo makes up names for. It could be a whole other dimension for Khaled while still arguably remaining the “new” hip-hop.
Danny Brown
The toothless wonder’s contagious voice is destined for a DJ Khaled song. Danny Brown could rock over “The Cup Song” from Pitch Perfect and have it sound cool. Imagine over DJ Khaled’s big cinematic production? Bring it on.
Riff Raff
How do you spell beautiful disaster? R-I-F-F-R-A-F-F-A-N-D-D-J-K-H-A-L-E-D.
Goodie Mob
Though Cee-Lo has appeared on a Khaled track before, with the Goodie Mob reunion finally under way, and the group working with a few out of the box artists, it would be cool to see what they could do with The Prez of Def Jam South.
Earl Sweatshirt
If Tyler gets to rock with Khaled, then Earl should be able to. Earl Sweatshirt’s style has been getting increasingly darker as of late, so perhaps a Khaled track could bring the young Odd Future member back to life. Or, Earl could turn Khaled emo. Imagine what that would sound like?
Lupe Fiasco
With Lupe Fiasco evolving into an EDM rapper, this union feels far more likely than it did a few years ago. If this happened, expect a lot of synths. Lupe likes synths now. Hopefully Khaled does too.
M.I.A.
So Maya Arulpragasam is not a rapper, but work with us here. Perhaps Khaled could dabble with some South East Asian soundbeds for the Sri Lankan princess to rest on. This could actually be a really cool collaboration, if executed properly.
Travi$ Scott
Hip-Hop’s current “it” guy suffers from success too. See how that works?
The Lonely Island
The comedy rap group The Lonely Island has pretended to be DJ Khaled on a number of occasions. Let’s get the real one on a song already.
Outkast
If anyone could bring Outkast back together, it’s DJ Khaled. Okay, that doesn’t sound true at all, but hearing Big Boi and Andre 3000 back together could move mountains. Doesn’t matter what the reason is behind it.
The Weeknd
Look, we all know The Weeknd is the coolest weirdo out. But if he can collaborate with Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, then there should be no problem getting on a DJ Khaled track.
Matisyahu
Matisyahu and DJ Khaled would do more than make a statement in music. This would be a political statement, religious statement, you name it. Are you ready to be socially conscious, Khaled?
Joey Bada$$
Brooklyn’s new favorite wordsmith meets the collaboration King of the South? Sounds like an interesting party, but you know Joey would ask that every member of Pro Era gets on the track with him.
Slaughterhouse
There are enough guys in Slaughterhouse that Khaled doesn’t have to add 57 more people to the track. This would be the type of song city workers shout out at women when they see them walking by on the street fixing potholes.
The Roots
The Roots could introduce Khaled to something called live instruments. You know, like real guitars and real drums? Could be life-changing.
Tech N9ne
There’s an “All I Do Is Win” remix floating around with Tech N9ne tacked on. That song doesn’t count. What counts is a real DJ Khaled and Tech N9ne collaboration. Even a Strange Music collaboration.
Killer Mike
DJ Khaled's tracks aren't exactly known for their strong political messages, but it'd be exciting to hear Killer Mike bring his impassioned, fiery delivery to one of Khaled's luxurious productions. It'd also be the perfect opportunity for the playful and gregarious Mike to show off his lighter, funnier side.
