Travi$ Scott has put in some career changing work since gracing the 2013 Freshman cover of our magazine back in March. The Grand Hustle rapper and Very GOOD Beats producer has added to his resume by dropping his debut EP, Owl Pharaoh and contributing production wise to both Kanye West’s Yeezus and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. But Scott’s success didn’t happen overnight or come without sacrifices. “My come up was really being focused and grinding,” he recalled to us about his humble beginnings. “I met this guy named Anthony Kilhoffer. I reached out to him and he was extra famous and shit. He mixed mad albums like Michael Jackson, Kanye West. I just kept sending him beats. It was a point where I was like homeless and shit. I was bumming couches, sleeping in cars and this nigga hit me up and after that it just changed my whole life. He got me to Kanye West, Tip all that shit.”

Perseverance prevails. Check out the entire clip where Scott talks about his style and Kanye comparisons, below.
