Jay Z Drops Hyphen From His Name
Rappers often stylized their names all the time. However, Jay Z is different.
The Brooklyn rapper—formerly known as Jay-Z—has changed his name to Jay Z. The news comes from Billboard editor Joe Levy, who broke the news via Twitter, citing Hov’s label as his source.
Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.

Jay Z’s new look for his name has been done subtlety. On 2011’s Watch The Throne with Kanye West, his name was credited as Jay Z. In similar fashion, Jay’s Magna Carta Holy Grail name was displayed in the same way throughout all of the promotion. Although there hasn’t been a big announcement yet, several publications have switched over.
Whatever the case, Jay Z is still Jay Z.
