J. Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’ Hits Gold

After surpassing Kanye’s “Yeezus” in sales earlier this month, J. Cole’s Born Sinner has reached gold status this week. According to his manager , Ibrahim Hamad, Cole’s sophomore effort reached 500,000 in sales, reaching the lauded benchmark, after selling an impressive 26,394 copies in the album’s fifth week out. very solid album, knew it was going gold atleast …roc nation running shit across the board and everyone probably thought Hov was gone have to be all in the videos, ghost writing songs and making it all about Hov. Cole standing on his own 2 and you got to respect that. Jay did Cole on some real artist development sh*t and didn’t just throw the kid to the wolves like most exces would have. Guess Jay Z is a pretty good CEO after all…

So very true. Except for that last part. For the most part it seemed J Cole was an independent artist signed to a major label. I dont see Jay doing much to interfere with Coles work, which honestly is a good thing :)

J.Cole said in an interview that Jay-Z had him in artist development at first

the fact he didnt interfere with cole is why he is a great executive
