Over the weekend, J. Cole hit NYC to whip up the visuals to his premiere Born Sinner single, “Crooked Smile”. Linking up with director Aristotle, the pair is set to film the highly anticipated clip releasing soon.

Produced by ByAnyMeans, the Roc Nation MC set the summer scene in an NYC neighborhood. From several photos revealed exclusively to XXL, the concept seems to follow a young Jermaine and a group of friends into their adulthood. Enduring several trials and tribulations throughout the clip, the Born Sinner alongside his crew rises above the adversity, thus transitioning viewers to Cole’s present fortune.

There have also been whispers that TLC did not appear in the uplifting visual, but as of press time it was not confirmed.

In other news, entering its third week, Born Sinner has reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, beating out Kanye West and Wale respectively. – Miranda Johnson
