Just Blaze And Young Guru Talk EDM, Creating Jay-Z’s ‘Blueprint’ And More

Young Guru and Just Blaze are two pivotal figures in hip-hop. Recently, the pair sat down with Hard Knock TV to discuss a slew of topics that included the crossover between hip-hop and EDM, their work on Jay-Z’s Blueprint and plenty more.

Just touched on his new record, “Higher,” and explained how he is comfortable creating production that blurs the lines between genres.

“I’m comfortable playing what I want, I’m comfortable wearing what I want and just being me as an individual…not that I wasn’t comfortable with who I am but I was definitely doing a keeping up with the Jones kind of thing,” he said.

Other highlights of the interview included Guru telling Just about the making of “Song Cry.” He recalled building the beat from scratch and it sounded stronger when Jay-Z hopped on the raw instrumental to record his verse during their studio session.

Just also revealed how Jay’s “Girls, Girls Girls” was originally for Ghostface Killah. He added that Busta Rhymes heard “You Don’t Know” and wanted it for his upcoming project.

UPDATE: Part two has surfaced that has the pair talking about early Roc-A-Fella days, how Keep It Real Wednesdays and more.
