Jay-Z's reported concert atop the Ed Sullivan Theater will be happening after all. The rapper—who drops his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail on the Fourth of July—was rumored to be planning a free performance in Times Square last week. Mayor Bloomberg's office then approved the show, which will take place on the marquee of the Late Show With David Letterman on July 8th. Jay will also appear on the show.

The performance is expected to require city officials to shut down the area surrounding the Theater, which sits on Broadway near 53rd Street just north of Times Square. Hov had previously wanted to perform on the marquee in 2010 alongside Eminem, but was unable to get permission from Bloomberg's office, and had to move the show to the roof of the building, which does not require a city permit.
