While June 25th was initially billed as Roc Nation Day in light of the coinciding releases of J. Cole and Wale's forthcoming albums, after Kanye West's announcement that he'd be releasing Yeezus on June 18th, Cole moved up his release date to throw his hat in the ring with Yeezy. Meanwhile, Wale and his LP The Gifted stayed put at the 25th. Today, the D.C. spitter stopped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club to clarify his reasons for avoiding the June 18th frenzy.

He says of Cole, "His inspiration was Kanye. That's not my inspiration. I like Kanye, but I'm not going to adjust what I was initially trying to do." He continues, "[Cole] told me a couple days before he was gonna do it, but I wasn't going to be like, 'Oh, can I come to y'all sandbox and play?!' I'm straight where I'm at."

Throughout the rest of the interview, Wale discusses his realization about evil people, his mentor Jay-Z and what to expect from his third LP. Check it out above.
