This week, hip-hop news got entertaining when Gucci Mane announced Chief Keef signed to Brick Squad. Just when you thought nothing could top that, Ja Rule was released from prison, which means will be hearing some new hits (hopefully) from him and Ashanti again. In other stories, Lauryn Hill and Dame Dash suffered from financial problems. It’s unfortunate and legal issues are never fun to deal with. We wish them the best. 1. Chief Keef Joins Gucci Mane’s 1017 Bricksquad
Gucci’s going to have his hands full. But, the two will probably be making the toughest street music to date.

2. Dame Dash Is Drowning In Debt, May Lose His Home
Former hip-hop mogul Dame Dash’s finances are in shambles and the Roc-A-Fella co-founder may be close to losing his home in Carmel, New York. According to the documents obtained by, New York Daily News, Dash’s pockets have diminished substantially. “I am currently several months behind in paying my personal bills,” he wrote. “For instance, I am currently over $100,000 behind in rent for the only home in which I live and at risk of being evicted.”

3. Lauryn Hill Is Sentenced to Three Months in Jail For Tax Evasion
Reuters reported her attorney had said Hill paid more than $970,000 to satisfy the amount she owed before she was sentenced. Hill faced a maximum sentence of one year each on three counts.

4. Vic Mensa Announces End Of Kids These Days
As our Associate Editor Dan Buyanovsky pointed out: "But alas, just as sure as time goes on and musical fads change, some good things must eventually come to an end. Kids These Days have announced that they will no longer function as a band, which is sad news to the group’s followers who have watched them as they’ve made appearances at major festivals like South By and Lollapalooza, and major TV shows like Conan. "

5. Ja Rule Is Released From Prison
Here is an official statement from spokesperson Melanie A. Bonvicino. “My client Jeffrey Atkins aka Ja Rule was released this morning from the Raybrook Correctional Facility in Upstate New York to serve out his federal time obligation due under the terms set forth in accordance with home confinement which were secured by his attorney Stacy Richman. At present, he looks forward to spending some time with his family while he completes his memoir.”

6. Treach Explains Vin Rock Split, Says Former Naughty By Nature Member Sucker Punched Him
“[It's] been in the making for a while, every relationship tries to stick it through the hard times, the good times but sometimes you gotta just do your own thing,” said Treach. “You know our kids is grown now, you last it out for the kids sometimes.” Treach went on to say that despite recent performances, the group hasn’t spoken or seen eye to eye in a couple of years.

7. Chance The Rapper Joins Mac Miller on 38-City “The Space Migration Tour”
Says a press release: "Mac Miller will also be bringing artists from his own, newly minted record label, REMember Music, on the road including Njomza, Dylan Reynolds, The Come-UP, Hardo, Choo Jackson andPrimavera Vills. The tour kicks off June 25th at Emo’s in Austin, TX."
