It looks like Lauryn Hill has earned herself a bit of leeway in her ongoing tax evasion case.

Earlier this year, it looked like the Fugees alum and hip-hop icon was heading to prison for failing to pay her taxes from 2005 to 2007, amounting to a total of $968,000 in debt. Now, however, TMZ reports that Hill's sentencing date has been pushed back two weeks to May 6.

TMZ's report indicates that the new court isn't the only news coming Lauryn Hill's camp. Hill's lawyer indicated that the singer-songwriter recently signed a $1 million recording contract with Sony, and is planning to take out a $650,000 loan to help pay for the tax debts.

Most recently, news broke that Hill is also facing eviction from her home in New Jersey for failure to pay her rent.
