Kendrick Lamar Wanted a “Darker Tone” Girl in “Poetic Justice” Video

While Kendrick and Drake never got the Janet Jackson cameo they wanted, the video's plot unveiled itself smoothly garnering much fanfare. The lead female role, Brittany Sky, however, wasn't originally casted for the part. During an interview with Miss Info, Kendrick revealed why he had to replace the original model for his love interest and roll with Ms. Sky instead.

The reason? "I had an idea where I just wanted a little bit of a darker tone [girl] in the video," said K. Dot. "It's almost like a color blind industry where there's only one type of appeal to the camera."
