Kanye West is looking to return to his soul roots on his next album. If you remember, ‘Ye made his name known on big records such as Jay-Z’s “Heart of the City” and Twista’s “Overnight Celebrity.” Those were the kind of records that made him a household name, and he’s looking to craft more.

During a sitdown with MTV News, Rsonist of the Heatmakerz revealed that he’s been working on a record with ‘Ye for a while.

"I got a record on Kanye's new project that I guess he's been working on for a minute now," he said. "Anybody that's familiar with Heatmakerz, it's old-school, epic Heatmakerz, like soul music at its best. Kanye reached out to us because he wanted that old Heatmakerz sound."

There’s no word if Kanye and The Heatmakerz collaboration will officially be placed on his upcoming sixth solo LP. However, Rsonist says that we’ll get the old ‘Ye back for at least one track. "We all came up together during the whole Jay-Z Roc-A-Fella era and all that so yeah, it's typical Heatmakerz," he said. "Old-school soul music. It's dope."
