Some rappers are happy to be on MTV’s “Hottest MCs” list. Others are a little bitter.

Pusha T recently spoke about being leff off the list, expressing that he had an incredible year and should recognized be for it. “I think I’ve had a stellar year. When you look at what I did this year, I did some incredible things,” he said. Now J. Cole feels similar sentiments and expressed his thoughts during an interview with DJ Drama.

Cole commented on the list, saying that he didn’t really care for it. He continued with harsh words on MTV’s “brain trust,” although it seemed like he was being playful about his threats. “Think about it, from what they say, it’s the past year, I’ve had a quiet year. I should be on there,” he said. “I don’t give a fuck, DJ Drama. They’re fucking dead, and I’m gonna kill them. We shouldn’t talk about this anymore. They want this. Fuck these guys. Future doesn’t even give a fuck about Kanye. They don’t even interrupt each others’ lives and they’re not competing on the same level.”

Cole and Dram switched topics to his new single, “Power Trip,” featuring Miguel. They also talk about his verse on Dedication 4 for “Green Ranger,” and explained how the Lil Wayne collaboration came together. Cole shared his vision behind the record, where he felt the need to bring out Dedication-era Wayne. The conversation then goes into Jay-Z’s reaction upon hearing Cole’s verse.
