MC Hammer was arrested Thursday (Feb 21) and charged with obstruction after an alleged altercation with an officer in a Dublin, CA shopping center. The rapper, however, claims he was racially profiled.

According to reports, Hammer, born, Stanley Burrell was initially cited for driving a vehicle with expired tags in the Hacienda Crossings shopping center. Authorities then claim the “You Can’t Touch This” rapper became hostile upon further questioning by officers. He was arrested and later booked and released from the Santa Rita Jail.

After his arrest, the Funky Headhunter took to Twitter to give his account of the situation in which he claims the entire incident was racially charged. "Sometimes in life you choose to 'Fight' and other times the 'Fight' chooses you," the 50-year-old rapper wrote. "Dignity is not a crime."

Hammer contends the officer immediately questioned whether he was “on parole or probation” upon approaching the vehicle. "While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet. It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop) !!! But make no mistake he's dangerous, he added. "Only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge. I was citied for obstruction smh."

Hammer is scheduled to appear in court next month.
