Mase Leaves Bad Boy Records, Says He Would Entertain Signing With G.O.O.D. Music

Mase has gone through many transitions in his career. The rapper behind the 1997 classic Harlem World produced hit records during his time at Bad Boy. Then, he would announce his retirement, but eventually make a comeback after a five-year hiatus in music. After a short stint in G-Unit, he’s finally pushing for another run in the game.

Mase was one of the guests for yesterday’s segment of MTV Rapfix. During his interview with Sway, he revealed that he left Bad Boy. “I’ve been in that contract for 16 years,” he said. “Yeah, the other day he let me out of it, so big shout-outs to Diddy, I guess he woke up feeling good and he wanted to do something good.”

Mase also went into why his G-Unit deal didn’t go as according to plan. He admitted that money issues with Diddy halted it from going forward. But, he praised him for being persistent and a good businessman.

The interview concluded with Mase entertaining the idea of possible new homes. Although he isn't ready to start a new partnership with a label, he believes working with Kanye West would be beneficial.

"At this point, I don’t really want to be under nobody from the aspect of being tied in a long, long contract,” he said. “It’s kinda like breaking up; you don’t want to jump into a new relationship. I’ma have to go somewhere. I would entertain that. I love Kanye, I love what he does musically, I love his ability to push the envelope. I like to be around people that’s not afraid to be different.” —Eric Diep
