Kendrick Lamar is a popular guy. So popular that his recent impromptu concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles had to be shut down by authorities because the crowd exceeded a number local police felt comfortable with handling, according to reports by aceshowbiz.com.

Following the Lakers’ 114-102 home victory over the Suns on Friday, Kendrick tweeted about the “secret” free show. The crowd that amassed in the area quickly became too much for local authorities to handle. The “Poetic Justice” rapper was able set up on top of a double decker bus and perform “The Recipe” and “Swimming Pools” before the swell of people became unsafe and Los Angeles police killed the sound ending Kendrick’s set premature. Police choppers and squad cars were reportedly employed to disperse the large crowd.
