Last September, Wyclef Jean made it clear that he’s a fan of Republican Sarah Palin.

Republicans must have taken notice. They tabbed the Fugees rapper to perform at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida on August 29.

So, what gives? Is Wyclef Jean a Republican? Add him performing at the RNC and his flattering comments toward Palin last year and people will have reason to suggest that ’Clef is turning his back on President Obama. It’s strange, considering he was a hardened supporter of Obama’s campaign back in 2008.

Country singers Willie Nelson and Randy Travis declined to perform at the RNC, but the “Gone Till November” MC didn’t.

This is what he told Women’s Wear Daily about Palin last year:

“I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin…’cause she’s rad,” he said. “She’s shrewd. She’s cool. Anyone should have the right to say, ‘Look I can do the job and this is what qualifies me to do the job.’”
