Who’s the Most Influential Female MC Ever? [Poll]

Nicki Minaj took the time out during her concert at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on Tuesday night (August 14) to deliver a special message to Foxy Brown.

“I really wanna thank you for being one of my biggest influences in the game,” Nicki said onstage to Foxy herself, who was Minaj’s special guest at the NYC show. “I never really told Foxy how much she has influenced me and how much she changed my life, and you’ve gotta tell people that when they’re alive to even be able to take the compliment, instead of paying tribute to them when they’re no longer here.

“I never really knew how she felt about me—in the industry, with women, you kinda just tread lightly—and I’m glad I was able to finally come out and say: ‘You were the most influential female rapper to me,’” she added.

This being said, the question of who’s the most influential female MC is definitely debatable with rapstresses such as Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown, having all left their mark.

Having said that, XXL poses the question to fans: “Who’s the most influential female MC?”

it says ”Female MC” not ”Female Rapper”. Those are two very different concept. And battle rapping skills are very different than songwriting skills.

There’s a difference between being the best and being the most influential. Lauryn is the best to me, hands down, Lyte is a close 2nd. Influence? Let’s be honest, we see way more fake Kim/Foxy’s runnin around than Lauryn’s. Kim/Foxy dropped the same year and then we saw a flood of chicks selling sex to get on. There really wasn’t a swell of MC’s like Lauryn to come out the woodwork like that.

Kim. Every female after her took some element of what she brought to the table. She’s far from the best but definitely the most influential.

  • oh yeah

it should be lauryn hill and queen latifa. but these girls these days are whores so lil kim or foxy brown will probably be more appealing to them. sad but true

To me, it’s between Kim, Lauryn and Missy… Lauryn was such a raw talented woman but who was more into the signing part, and Missy was this crazy influent chick in Hip-Hop in general.. Kim paved the way in general by bringing some total different moves in the rap game. So I’d say Kim in the strict term of rap.
