Hip-Hop Lawyers Inspire New CBS Legal Drama Series

She has defended the likes of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Ja Rule in weapon cases.

Her father represented Shyne during Diddy’s widely-publicized 2000 nightclub shooting trial. Puff would be cleared of all charges, while Shyne would unfortunately wound up serving a prison bid from 2001 to 2009 for assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession.

According to the New York Post, CBS has reportedly acquired the script rights to a drama series based on the legal practices of father-and-daughter attorneys, Murray and Stacey Richman. The series is to be produced by Tribeca Productions—Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro's company—with Emmy-winning writer Danny Strong and The Fighter director, David O. Russell, also part of the project.

Stacey was in court, when XXL reached out to her for comment.

However, when she was the subject of a feature piece in XXL Magazine last year, Richman gave readers a taste of her work repping hip-hop's finest. "I don’t consider myself a celebrity lawyer; I don’t consider myself a hip-hop lawyer," she told XXL last year. "I’d like to be considered an excellent lawyer.
