Papoose had just left visiting his wife and fellow rapper, Remy Ma, at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in the Westchester section of New York yesterday (July 16), when his phone started blowing up with a vicious rumor that Remy had died behind bars.

“I knew it was bullshit because I had just left her…but in the back of your mind, you do think about it because it’s somebody you love,” Pap told XXL.

Pap was able to get in touch with the love of his life, who was doing just fine. The Bronx rapstress called in to Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex last night to tell listeners that she was alive and well after a vicious Internet rumor that she had died behind bars spread like wildfire on the information super highway earlier in the day.

“I’m real good,” Remy told Flex. “I heard I was dead and all type of craziness. People are crazy. I was trending worldwide [on Twitter]. People have nothing to do with their lives sometimes, so they just say things and then it gets out of control. I just know that they were looking for me crazy all throughout the prison.”

Once the rumor was cleared up, Remy did tell Flex that she’ll be home in 22 months. She’s currently finishing her eight-year sentence, which stemmed from assault and weapons charges from the July 2007 shooting of Makeda Barnes-Joseph outside of a Manhattan nightclub.

Flex’s fellow Hot 97 DJ and close friend of Remy and Pap, Kay Slay, jumped on his own Twitter to shut down the rumor, which nobody quite knows how it got started.

“For all you weird mother fuckers REMY MA DID NOT get stabbed, DID NOT get KILLED or even SCRATCHED in her cell!” Slay tweeted. “@Papooseonline just left her.”—Mark Lelinwalla
