Pharrell Williams is a frontrunner to fill one of two vacant American Idol judge spots, according to US Weekly.

The celebrity news publication reports that the super-producer could become a judge for the longstanding American Idol Series, joining already-confirmed Mariah Carey and rumored Nick Jonas as other judges. Sources add that Skateboard P is currently negotiating the terms of his contract and that “everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details.”

An insider also told the magazine that "Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge," one insider says. "They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings."

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler stepped down from their posts as Idol judges at the end of this past season.

Pharrell definitely knows his music, having worked with the diverse likes of Jay-Z, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani.

The Grammy Award winner is also prepping his book, Pharrell: Places and Spaces I’ve Been, in which he enlisted the likes of Jay-Z, Nigo (creator of A Bathing Ape clothing line) and artist Takashi Murakami, for a fall release.—Jakinder Singh
