Jay-Z Adds Two More Show Dates at Barclays Center This September

From Marcy to Madison Square…to the Barclays Center.

Jay-Z will be performing his first concert at the Barclays Center on September 28 and he has recently added to more shows at the same facility on September 29 and 30.

The shows are in support of the grand opening of the Barclays Center, the new home of the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA franchise of which Hov is a minority owner of and helped relocate from New Jersey to his hometown Brooklyn.

Back on April 30, the Nets unveiled a black-and-white logo for the team that ESPN reported that Jay-Z played an instrumental role in designing.

“The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era,” Jay-Z said in a statement received by ESPN. “The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction. Along with our move to Brooklyn and a state-of-the-art arena, the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team.”

Although the logo spared additional excitement for the Brooklyn, not everybody was excited.

On May 4, New York Post columnist Phil Mushnick blasted Hov and the Nets franchise with blatantly racist comments.

“Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York Ni--as?” Mushnick wrote in his column two months back. “The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn Bitches or Hoes. Team logo? A 9mm with a hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!”

The Nets will play their 2012-13 season at the Barclays Center.
