Back in April, Floyd Mayweather told XXL about his best friend 50 Cent possibly trying his hand as a boxing promoter.

“As far as boxing I think he is going to be involved with the promotion side,” Mayweather told XXL during a conference call on Wednesday (April 25), before defeating Miguel Cotto from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas days later on May 5. “We may even put him out there, let him fight on pay-per-view one time. We don’t know what the future holds, but he is getting involved with boxing. He would bring a lot to the table. We believe there’s enough to go around, he’s not just my friend, he’s not just my best friend, he’s one of my business partners and one of the smartest guys I know.”

Well, just a few months later and Mayweather’s educated hunch has seen fruition—50 Cent has officially entered his name as a boxing promoter.

Sports Illustrated recently reported that 50 has founded TMT Promotions—short for The Money Team—which has already been licensed in New York and is in the process of applying for a license in Nevada, the epicenter for most prized bouts.

The report goes on to add that in addition to 50 and Mayweather working together to promote fights, that TMT Promotions is expected to sign fighters Yuri Gamboa and Andre Dirrrell.

The Money Team will be up against the veteran promoter likes of Bob Arum (Top Rank) and highly-successful Oscar De  La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions).

50 was by his BFF’s side, when Mayweather turned himself in to begin his 87-day jail sentence for domestic violence back on June 1.
