This past weekend, Lil Wayne defended his decision to pull Nicki Minaj as the headliner of Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert before 60,000 fans at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on June 3.

Weezy told MTV News that the decision was all about respect for women. Well, Hot 97 personality, Peter Rosenberg, has a little something to say about that.

“Lil Wayne thinks that I don’t show respect for women,” said Rosenberg said live on the air. “Wayne is right about something—Women are mothers, are sisters, are daughters. But I have a question. Is me giving my opinion that one song is wack, is that showing a lack of respect for women?”

Rosenberg is referring to the fact that he labeled Nicki’s pop-friendly single, “Starships,” as “bullshit” earlier in the day on June 3, thus prompting Weezy to pull his Young Money princess from the massive bill.

“That’s a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female,” Weezy told MTV News, while backstage at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta on Saturday (June 16). “I don’t know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how.”

Rosenberg, who played snippets of Weezy’s misogynistic lyrics from tracks like “6 Foot, 7 Foot” and “Pop Bottles,” said that Wayne isn’t qualified to tell him how to respect women.

“I don’t know if Weezy F. should be giving me lessons on respect for women,” Rosenberg continued. “Weezy F.—the F doesn’t stand for feminist, alright.”

Rosenberg wasn’t done yet. The outspoken radio personality continued, this time putting the focus on Minaj.

“Clearly the logical thing is let’s get the word of respect for women from the woman at the center of it all…clearly Nicki Minaj, she understands respect for women,” said Rosenberg, before playing snippets of Nicki’s “Stupid Hoe” track. “Instead of talking to everyone else about Hot 97, how about the good people at Young Money just come on down and come see us and talk to us?

“Oh, that’s because then they’d have to hear the truth,” he added. “And they can’t handle the truth.”—Mark Lelinwalla
