A$AP Rocky and ScHoolboy Q Discuss Competition

A$AP Rocky and ScHoolboy Q will be sharing the Summer Jam Festival Stage in New Jersey this weekend, and have collaborated a number of times on wax, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some lighthearted competition between the two up and comers. “I want to come out with a project with him, because every time we collab, it’s crazy,” Rocky said on MTV’s “RapFix Live.” “Everybody agree on that. What I like about when me and him [are] working together, it’s like friendly competition. I’ma keep it real: I feel like he got me on ‘Brand New Guy’.”

So far, the two MCs have released two collaborations: “Brand New Guy,” off of the Rocky’s LiveLoveA$AP mixtape from late last year, and “Hands On The Wheel,” from Q’s early 2012 release Habits & Contradictions.

“A$AP is the homie,” Q agreed in a separate interview with MTV. “We kind of live the same lifestyle. Smoke weed. Sip lean. Get fly. I’m a little more gangsta than him. He’s a little more swagged than me. We’re kind of the same, but from different places.” Q was raised in Los Angeles, while Rocky is a Harlem representer. The two are steadily carving out their own lanes while also helping put on for their respective Black Hippy and A$AP Mob crews.

Though both remain busy with solo endeavors and work with their teams, there is talk of a joint project. “We had a talk,” Q continued. “We definitely talking right now. We may give y’all a project, but it all has to be right. The time has to be right. He’s busy right now. I’m busy right now. So I can’t give no promises on when it would come, but we definitely talking about it and it may happen.”
