Rick Ross rolled out Maybach Music Group’s master plan during a press conference in New York City’s Eventi Hotel on Wednesday (May 2): Summer domination.

MMG’s compilation, Self Made, Vol. 2, is set to hit stores on June 26, Meek Mill’s debut LP, Dreams & Nightmares, is slated for an August 28 release with Rozay’s own highly-anticipated album, God Forgives, I Don’t, sandwiched in between on July 31.

“I will deliver,” Ross said of his impending fifth studio album, which he called his best work yet and equipped with all new material.

The Bawse feels the same way about the first LP up to bat, the MMG compilation.

“I feel like we’re the dream team when it comes to making records and making big records,” Rozay said. “People kinda shied away from compilations, but I felt it was a great tool. The music speaks for itself. As far as the artists, it was a natural bond."

As if the slew of confirmed album release dates weren’t enough, Rozay also officially announced the signing of R&B artist Omarion to his imprint during Wednesday’s press conference.

“He’s a phenomenal entertainer,” Ross said of the veteran R&B singer. “His dancing is incredible. He’s a actor, he’s a singer. I’ve been looking at going into the arena of R&B records and I thought he was the best artist to kick the doors open with.”

In turn, O called it a “special day in music,” a ‘special moment” in his career and added he became a “made man” Wednesday.

“My name is Omarion, AKA Maybach O, aka Luke Skywalker,” the former B2K front man said. “A lot of people have been wondering, ‘What’s up with Omarion, is his career over?’ Understand when you see me from now on what it is. It’s Maybach Music. Yeah.”

Added Ross: “I had a few conversations with the homie,” Ross offered about how the Omarion signing came about. “I flew him down to Miami, he played me a dozen records and I was amazed by the music he put together.”

What didn’t happen Wednesday was signings of Ma$e, Dom Kennedy, Nipsey Hussle or Shawnna to MMG, despite the heavy rumors that named them and circulated leading up to the big press conference.

Wednesday's announcement also drew Diddy and Warner Brothers Records Chairman Lyor Cohen, who both spoke highly of Ross’ business acumen and artistry.

“One of the best signings Lyor has signed since Def Jam,” Combs raved of his friend and collaborator. “Ross is so talented as a brand builder, every time you hear that Australian girl with the Maybach music, its like your dick gets hard. At least my dick gets hard.”

Also on hand was Swizz Beatz, who revealed that Ross’ partnership with Reebok extends past sneakers and into a big and tall clothing line. French Montana was also on hand to announce his new single, “Pop That,” produced by Dr. Luke and featuring Lil Wayne, Drake and Ross. Rozay is also executive producing Montana’s first ever album, Excuse My French, which drops July 17.

“Two years ago I couldn't tell you we would be here,” Ross said reflecting on all his moves. “But I knew the desire I had.”—Shaheem Reid
