Hip-Hop Reacts to Lil Boosie’s Not-Guilt Verdict

It was a verdict that rung bells late yesterday (May 11), Torrence “Lil Boosie” Hatch found not guilty of murder. The 29-year-old rapper was accused of of paying Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding, then-17, now 19, to kill Terry Boyd, 35, on October 20th, 2009 because Hatch allegedly discovered from an inmate that Boyd had planned an attack on him. After deliberating for about an hour in Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s 19thJudicial District Courthouse, an East Baton Rouge Parish jury acquitted Lil Boosie of the alleged murder-for-hire plot. It was a shock to most folks considering prosecutors’ decision to present the jury with lyrics from Boosie’s mixtape songs, “187” and “Bodybag,”  on Wednesday (May 9) however, it concluded as a moment of celebration. Despite the good news however, Boosie is still currently serving an eight-year prison sentence on drug charges at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
