French Montana Talks Working With Kanye West, The Weeknd, Travis Barker on Debut Album

If everything goes according to French Montana’s, everyone will be speaking his language during the hot days of summer.

The 2012 XXL Freshman will be dropping his debut album, Excuse My French on July 17, and he recently spoke on who fans can expect to hear alongside him on the disc. “Travis Barker, working with him,” French told Karen Civil. “Working with [The] Weeknd. Shout to Kanye. Shout to the whole MMG. Shout to Bad Boy. Shout to The Coke Boys. Harry Fraud.”

Some of those are artists that the Bronx representer has worked with before. Harry Fraud produced his biggest hit to date, “Shot Caller”; he has cuts with Maybach Music Group members Rick Ross, Meek Mill and Wale under his belt; and his label boss, Diddy, has lent vocals, as well, including on the “Shot Caller (Remix).” Fans are yet to hear a record from French and Kanye West, though—which was a possibility alluded to in the interview. Back at the top off the year, before the deal with Bad Boy was announced, there were rumors that the Coke Boys honcho would be inking with West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, though they never manifested. But it seems there has been no love lost.

As for the album itself, French has high hopes. “I feel like it’s gonna be somethin’ real special,” he continued. “It’s gonna be good from beginning to end.”

The next single from the project, called “Pop That,” was announced a few weeks back. It’s set to feature Ross, Lil Wayne, Drake and Uncle Like. “Nobody gets a party poppin’ like Uncle Luke,” French explained when asked about the pairing. “We gonna get all that right now. Just [waiting on] sample clearance.”
