On the heels of Rick Ross’s highly anticipated press conference scheduled for this afternoon, Birdman made some major headlines of his own this week, announcing that Ace Hood and the entirety of DJ Khaled’s We The Best imprint would be joining the YMCMB camp.

The YMCMB x Ace Hood connection is a longstanding one, with Birdman having been a featured artist on Hood’s 2009 LP, Ruthless. Lil Wayne was also featured Ace Hood’s 2011 Blood, Sweat, and Tears, where he was on board for the remix of the album’s first official single, “Hustle Hard.”

In an interview with MTV News’ Sway Calloway, Birdman further elaborated on the signing, adding, “ I always wanted to have a chance to work with Ace Hood…We wanted to do it right, set it up right. I think Ace Hood is a superstar. I love his worth ethic, I think he’s a very talented young man and he gonna be a big superstar in this business and I wanted to be the one to help him become that. It was important to me.”

As of now, Birdman hasn’t shared his plans for the rest of DJ Khaled’s We The Best label, which also includes the likes of Cubic Z, Red Rum, Nino Brown, and producers, The Renegades, The Nasty Beatmakers, and Lee Major of The Inkredibles. Khaled’s Kiss The Ring LP is slated for a 2012 release date.—XXL
