Photographs of Kanye West and Kid Cudi on a film set in Doha, Qatar, located in the Middle East, hit the net on Thursday (April 19).

Could this be the short film that Yeezy was alluding to? Quite possibly.

Back in February, The New York Observer reported that ’Ye is prepping a short film that would be shot in the Middle East. Sources told the publication that Kanye even sent members of his team to meet with film companies and government officials in Middle East locations such as Abu Dhabi, Doha and Qatar to explore grounds to shoot from.

“His reps seemed genuinely enthusiastic about creating a piece which highlights the culture accurately,” one source told The Observer. “There’s a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes about Emiratis and Qataris, which Westerners often play up. They discussed how Kanye is looking to bridge the cultural divide and break misconceptions.”

XXLMag.com didn’t get an immediate response when reaching out to Kanye’s camp on Thursday.

Although the details of this supposed film are still murky, Kanye fans will surely remember “Runaway,” West’s last conceptual film, back in 2010, which served as the perfect complement in hyping his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.

That production featured supermodel Selita Ebanks and an entire flock of ballerinas.

Potential news of a film only add to Kanye’s current push, which includes the release of two undeniable bangers in “Way Too Cold” and G.O.O.D. Music’s “Mercy,” which features the likes of Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz.—Jakinder Singh
