YG has been using music to get his mind off of some heavy stuff lately.

“The police tryna give my homie three life sentences,” the Compton rapper announced to a sold-out crowd at New York City’s Best Buy Theater, where he was opening up for Tyga on Wednesday night (Feb. 29). “That’s three Ls. So, fuck the police!”

That being said, it’s a good thing that YG, short for Young Gangsta, has plenty of projects on deck to momentarily escape some of the harsh realities of his life. His single, “Bitches Ain’t Shit,” featuring fellow Cali representatives Tyga and Nipsey Hussle, continues to pick up steam with current XXL Freshman, French Montana, hopping on the East Coast remix.

“He killed it,” YG told XXLMag.com of French’s assist on the song. “He did what he was supposed to do on it. It’s a [XXL] Freshman thing.”

“Bitches Ain’t Shit” is a part of YG’s mixtape, 4 Hunnid Degreez, which is scheduled for a March 20 release. The project will feature the likes of 2 Chainz, Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy and fellow former XXL Freshmen, Meek Mill, Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle.

As far as his album goes, YG says fans will get it sooner than expected.

“The album is coming soon, bro,” YG said. “I ain’t got no date, but it’s coming soon.”

In addition to the music, YG can be seen in the upcoming Mario Van Peebles-directed film, We the Party, which hits theaters April 6.

“I play this character…his name is CC, he’s 20 years old in high school still with a baby,” YG said. “He’s got a kid, he’s in high school and he raps, but nobody knows he raps because he’s like the kid everyone’s scared of. I’m in a movie!” —Mark Lelinwalla
