Rick Ross, MMG are Untouchable During NYC Performance

Rick Ross is in an absolute zone. That was evident and on full display Tuesday night (March 13), when Rozay rocked an overflowing crowd during his concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York City.

Backed by his MMG family in Meek Mill, Wale, Stalley and Gunplay and special guests like DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz and French Montana—not to mention about a hundred people, including Rihanna, that stood behind him on stage the entire night—Ross set NYC on fire, blazing through a laundry list of his hits.

With the capacity crowd hanging onto his every word—and husky “Hunngh” adlibs—Ross hit the fans with a slew of his older and newer bangers, including his verse off Meek’s smash hit “I’ma Boss,” “9 Piece,” “Hustlin’,” “Aston Martin Music,” and his biggest street anthem to date, “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” to which he told the raucous crowd, “New York muthafuckin’ City, let’s blow some money!”

With the utmost confidence and stage presence, Rozay also tore into material off his Rich Forever mixtape, beginning with the title track.

As R&B crooner John Legend’s voice blared through the speakers, Ross soaked in the moment, standing smack dab in the middle of the stage, basking in all his revelry and looking every bit like a Bawse.

The Teflon Don brought out Swizz Beatz, who emerged from the horde of entourages on stage to his classic produced anthem, “Ruff Ryders Anthem”—a dismay to the crowd that was filled with glee hoping to see DMX. After Swizzy moved the crowd with his club-favorite “Money In the Bank,” Ross rounded his MMG proteges Meek Mill, Wale—who performed earlier running through their individual hits (“Lotus Flower Bomb,” “I’ma Boss,” among others)—and Stalley back to the stage to hold court. Following their current Self Made, Vol. 2 single, the T-Pain assisted “Bag of Money,” and another Rich Forever joint, “Party Heart,” the crew brought along Bad Boy newbie and current XXL Freshman, French Montana to perform the hottest anthem on the streets, “Stay Schemin’.”

Before closing out the show, Rozay and Frenchie delivered their brooding coke-fantasia record, “Off The Boat” followed by Triple C’s Gunplay hitting the stage to rock out to his riotous track “Rollin’.” After ending with his rendition of Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk” single, the Bawse exited the stage, as security cleared out the stage, to clamoring “Rozay” chants.—Mark Lelinwalla (@XXL_Mark) and Ralph Bristout (@XXLRalph)
