With his mentor Busta Rhymes signed to Cash Money since last November, could it be a natural progression for Reek Da Villain to ink a contract with the same hip-hop heavyweight label?

Reek certainly is banking on it.

“That’s in the makings right now,” the confident protégé of Busta told XXLMag.com. “That’s something that we’re trying to work on right now. After this [impending mixtape release], we’re definitely pushing to be on that Cash Money label next. I’ve already been out there, chilling with them, [politic’ing] with Bird and the Young Money team.”

Before such a deal could possibly come to fruition, the Long Island, New York MC is busy prepping his mixtape, Reek What You Sow, for a late April-early May release.

“It’s going to be like an album, but we’re calling it a mixtape because it’s going to be something we’re giving out to the streets,” Reek explained. “The project is a masterpiece.”

The work of art, as Reek refers to it, will feature the likes of Busta, Kendrick Lamar, Ace Hood, Uncle Murda and current and former XXL Freshmen, French Montana and Fred Da Godson. Reek also promises that he’s got something special in the works with Young Money member Lil Chuckee.

But perhaps the record that Reek is most in love with is, “Go Off,” which he bluntly calls, “stupid!”

The song features Reek alongside Kendrick Lamar and Ace Hood with super producer Swizz Beatz blessing the hook and co-producing the record with Busta. Reek says a video for the song has already been shot and that he predicts the track will force rappers to step their games up.

“I already know when this record drops it’s going to change the climate of rap and make people start rapping again,” Reek said. "The record is phenomenal! Me and Kendrick—that’s normal for us, we do real lyricism—but to my surprise, Ace Hood was right there with us. He held his own right there with me and Kendrick. That makes the record all the more dope on a super lyrical, rapping kind of swag.”—Mark Lelinwalla
