Snoop Dogg was arrested this weekend in Texas after a drug-sniffling dog uncovered marijuana on his tour bus.

TMZ reports that Snoop's tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, a small town in West Texas, where officers found a possible hit in a waste basket in the back of the vehicle after they ran a standard inspection of the bus with the dog. The agents claim they found a red prescription bottle with several joints inside, amounting to under half-ounce of weed.

Cops said Snoop, who has a prescription for dope in California, admitted the weed was his but there is a zero tolerance policy for weed in Texas regardless of status in other states.

Snoop was issued a citation for misdemeanor drug possession and released.

The El Paso region is known for catching and arresting artists for their weed use. Paul Wall and Baby Bash were arrested in El Paso last fall by El Paso County constables on suspicion of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug-free zone. “I’m not upset it happened, I’m just upset about the way that one cop treated us," Baby Bash told XXLMag.com back then. "He was like a rent-a-cop and he treated us like two trophies.”

Back in 2010, country singer Willie Nelson was arrested at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca for allegedly having about six ounces of marijuana. Johnny Cash was also arrested in October 1965, and held in the El Paso County Jail on a misdemeanor narcotics charge. —Gina Montana
