In an interview with The Boombox, Lupe Fiasco says that his next album isn’t completed yet because he’s waiting on Atlantic Records. “The ‘Lupe [Fiasco's Food & Liquor II]‘ album is [coming out] hopefully. It’s not on me,” he said. “It’s not done yet. I’m waiting on my record company, ain’t nothing changed. Same business, it’s on them.” Earlier this year, Lupe stated in interviews that half of Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album was complete, and that his label didn’t plan to interfere with the content.
